We go on and on
circle each other, want to take back
the ways we used to play

through the long months of our lives
before we longed for the days before
we began to shed innocence, to reason

until we hit a sudden moment
in our seasoned maturity (read “complacency” here) —
and here you’ll turn to the desert island page

that stuns us
inevitably, with its déjà vu revelation:
We’re all of us one with the universe.
