Become a volunteer and gain experience in copy editing and proofreading, production, distributions, promotions, event planning, graphic design, public relations and more. Liven up your resume and learn more to benefit your own writing. Meet other people with the same interests as yourself; not to mention, please the writing and publishing karma gods.
You will be asked to commit three to five hours a week, depending on where we are in the production process. Meetings are generally held once a month in the evening. Volunteers receive a free subscription to the magazine as well as some OV swag every now and then, too!

Position: Funding Developer
Location: Downtown Edmonton, opportunity to work from home

Other Voices is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer with a comfort in marketing and funding, as well as strong critical-thinking skills to join our magazine production team. Other Voices is an Edmonton-based literary magazine that publishes bi-annual issues of fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, art and reviews.
The Funding Developer will report to and work closely with the President and Managing Editor to oversee the funding and grants-related operations of the magazine. Experience in grant writing, fundraising and events is an asset. Knowledge of writing and the magazine industry is welcomed, but not a necessity.
Working in co-operation with the OVPS executive, the new funding developer would:
-Co-ordinate and write grant applications
-Search for new grants and other sources of funding
-Develop and implement funding strategies
-Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events
Good organization skills and flexibility are key. The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to dedicate their time and will be self-motivated.
Education requirements: Some post-secondary
Hours per week: 10-15 (may telecommute or work at the office)
Will be required to attend monthly meetings.
